She was born on 5 January 1986 in the city of Copenhagen, Denmark and her father was on an international tour at that time. Her father’s name is Prakash Padukone and he was an international level badminton player and her mother’s name is Ujjala Padukone who was a travel agent. His sister’s name is Anisha Padukone who is a sportsperson. When she was 1 year old, her family shifted to Bangalore.

She did her early education from Sophia High School, Bangalore. She was fond of playing badminton since childhood and has been a national level badminton player, besides she has also played baseball up to the state level. She did modelling when she was 8 years old. When she was in the tenth class, she changed her focus to modelling and she wanted to become a successful model, so she talked to her father about it and after her father’s consent, she started modelling. From 2004, she started giving her full time to modelling. After which she went into depression and during an interview she told that she had never been more depressed in her life, during which she had consulted many doctors, However, despite the breakup, she has done films like Tamasha and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with Ranbir Kapoor In the year 2017, she had revealed her relationship to the media with Ranveer Singh and she told that she started dating Ranbir Singh from 2012.
